Corten steel was the main design element for this upscale renovation and MADE worked with fabricators to achieve a high-end finish.
Located in the characterful neighbourhood of Moseley, this property is situated in a wonderful plot with huge amounts of unrealised potential. With a need for more space and extended family living areas, our remodel combined distinctive design elements with highly functional features. The additional space is to replace an existing extension which was not fit for purpose, both in terms of aesthetics and functionality.
Looking at the immediate context of 1920s Moor Green Lane, there are many extensions that have a contemporary design and feel. The existing rear extension was a modern design with aluminium dark grey glazing. We replaced this with an extension of a similar design and similar appropriate glazing, maximising natural daylight without overlooking neighbouring properties.
A new flat roof design resolved water ingress issues from the existing extension, while an innovative steel cladding system allowed for expansive sliding doors and concealed fixings. The pièce de résistance of this design was a bespoke sunken seating area with a dual-aspect fireplace, serving as a show-stopping space for friends and family to socialise. Meanwhile, the vast sliding doors offer a seamless sense of flow between the indoor and outdoor spaces, with stylish landscaping and a built-in BBQ area.
